The Arolsen Archives are an international center on Nazi persecution with the world's most comprehensive archive on the victims and survivors of National Socialism. The collection is part of the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage. It contains around 30 million documents on the various groups of victims of the National Socialist terror regime, as well as references to the fates of 17.5 million people, and is an important source of knowledge for today's society. The crowdsourcing project #everynamecounts aims to capture information such as names and birth dates from the historical documents and make them searchable in an online database. The documents include prisoner personnel sheets, prisoner personnel cards, effects cards, or "change notices." The historical documents provide a disturbing glimpse into the classification of people that preceded the extermination action, and are a warning against the complete capture of people. #everynamecounts is an initiative of the Arolsen Archives to create a digital memorial to those persecuted under National Socialism.

Die Arolsen Archives sind ein internationales Zentrum über NS-Verfolgung mit dem weltweit umfassendsten Archiv zu den Opfern und Überlebenden des Nationalsozialismus. Die Sammlung gehört zum UNESCO-Weltdokumentenerbe. Sie beinhaltet rund 30 Millionen Dokumente zu den verschiedenen Opfergruppen des nationalsozialistischen Terrorregimes sowie Hinweise auf die Schicksale von 17,5 Millionen Menschen und ist eine wichtige Wissensquelle für die heutige Gesellschaft. Das Crowdsourcing-Projekt #everynamecounts hat zum Ziel, Informationen wie Namen und Geburtsdaten von den historischen Dokumenten zu erfassen und in einer Online-Datenbank durchsuchbar zu machen. Zu den Dokumenten gehören Häftlingspersonalbögen, Häftlingspersonalkarten, Effektenkarten oder „Veränderungsmeldungen“. Die historischen Dokumente geben einen beunruhigenden Einblick in die Klassifikation von Menschen, die der Vernichtungsaktion vorausgingen und sind eine Warnung vor der restlosen Erfassung von Menschen. #everynamecounts ist eine Initiative der Arolsen Archives, um den Verfolgten des Nationalsozialismus ein digitales Denkmal zu errichten.
